Charles Matthews

Charles Matthews was in training with the Celtics earlier this month and tore his ACL doing no favors for his draft stock. As a marginal draft pick already, Matthews might not have his name called but there are some still who believe he could be a late second rounder.

Bleacher Report’s Jonathan Wasserman predicted Charles will be the 57th pick in the NBA draft mentioning his defense as a factor, “Despite tearing his ACL during workouts, Matthews could be an interest value pick in the 50s for his elite defensive instincts.”

Will his defense be enough to get him over the hump? only time will tell.

Boston Celtics Pick 51

The Celtics are going to need a guard which they can get at any one of the four picks they have ahead of 51. They’re also going to need some bench play and that’s what Charles could give them.

As a young team with their leader Kyrie Irving likely leaving, the Celtics could benefit from Matthews especially if he hones in his accuracy in the G League next year.

New Orleans Pelicans Pick 57

The Pelicans were third in points allowed last year and are in desperate need of some defensive assistance. Adding Zion Williamson and Charles Matthews could help but the trade of Anthony Davis to the Lakers is going to hinder this team if the great Zion isn’t everything he’s predicted to be.
