Michigan basketball lost Ignas Brazdeikis, Jordan Poole, and Charles Matthews to the NBA draft; but where will they end up? Here I examine who needs them the most.

General Managers, coaches, and all the rest of the staff members on NBA teams are scrambling to find the next rising star. Zion Williamson is, of course, the unanimous No.1 but the top pick doesn’t always pan out and these guys are looking for steals like Tony Parker and any one of the Michigan basketball trio could fit the bill.

Anyone of the Wolverine three could end up being an NBA great despite what even some of the fan base feels, it happens all the time. Players underachieve in college and become some of the top NBA talents while the opposite also happens when guys overachieve in college and they don’t work out in the league – think Tayshaun Prince for the first category and Tyler Hansbrough for the latter.

It usually all comes down to who was given the best shot, who was placed in the best position for their talents, and which coaches leveraged their guys the best. That’s what this story is all about, where would the three Michigan basketball stars fit in the best based off needs and skill.

They may not end up where they are best suited but no one is projecting these guys to be day-one starters. Development elsewhere is the most likely destination but in the meantime, tonight is where they find out if they are selected or if they must turn to the UDFA for a team.

At 7 PM, ESPN will air coverage of the NBA draft which will be held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.

While the Knicks were hoping for the first pick as they had the best chance, it was robbed from them and the Pelicans are going to honored to have the opportunity to select Zion Williamson.

For the Detroit fans, the Pistons hold the No. 15 and No. 45 pick.

Former Michigan basketball coach John Beilein will enjoy the No. 5 and No. 26 picks for the Cavs.

The rest of the order and other draft information can be found here.

As for where Jordan Poole, Ignas Brazdeikis, and Charles Matthews fit in, that’s coming up next.
