Matthew Hibner

The first guy on this list doesn’t have the big offers and he doesn’t have the big ratings. Very similar to the expected 2019 starter at tight end, Sean Mckeon.

Coming out of high school, McKeon was an out-of-state three-star, ranked as the No. 45 tight end in the nation.

So far, Matthew Hibner is a three-star and he is ranked as the No. 45 tight end in the country.

Hibner committed following a visit last weekend where he says the coaches are what made the difference for him.

“The coaching staff is great,” he said. “They are really friendly and they are really easy to talk to and get along with. They are also smart. They are really knowledgeable and when they are talking football, you can tell they know exactly what they’re talking about, what they are doing.”

Matthew came prepared for the visit by doing a little homework on UM.

“I researched the football team. I researched the academics. It was all great and it came down to if this visit goes really well, then this is the place for me. It just all fit.”

Hailing from Virginia, Hibner is ranked No. 22 in VA, No. 1048 nationally, and holds a composite rating of 8485.

After a meeting with tight ends coach Sherrone Moore, Matthew knows how he will fit in the offense in a couple of years.

“I think they want me to be their mobile tight end, like a receiver who can block,” Hibner noted.

With Hibner on board, the rumors circulating that the relationship has cooled between the coaches and Nick Patterson are now beginning to make sense but only time will tell if he sticks to his Michigan commitment.
