Michigan Football: 5 reasons to embrace Wolverines as playoff contenders
Michigan is due
Sports can be cruel and as fans of Michigan football, we have all felt that harsh reality.
Whether we are talking about Kordell Stewart’s Hail Mary, J.T. Barrett getting an extra half-yard he didn’t deserve or the disaster against Michigan State in 2015, the Wolverines have been a little cursed. Hell, even the Shawn Crable roughing the passer deserves a mention.
Michigan hasn’t won the national championship since 1997 and even worse, it hasn’t won a Big Ten championship since 2004 when Chad Henne was a freshman.
It’s been a long wait for Wolverines fans and you just get the feeling that finally, something good just has to happen. UM has an elite head coach, one of the best young offensive minds in the game, a very good quarterback, a defense that has been consistently good under Don Brown and as much overall depth and talent as any point in the Harbaugh era.
You almost have to ask yourself, if not in 2019, when? That’s why I have to believe that Michigan football will breakthrough and not only win the Big Ten title but also fulfill Steele’s prediction and reach the College Football Playoff.
