Big Bad Urban is out the door

To be 100 percent honest, I wish this wasn’t true and I know for a fact that Harbaugh wishes Urban Meyer was still the head coach of Ohio State.

Instead, Meyer retired with a 4-0 record against Harbaugh in The Game and a 7-0 mark overall vs the Wolverines with three previous triumphs over Brady Hoke. However, after his star quarterback (Dwayne Haskins) was set to leave and with Michigan on the rise, Meyer ducked out at the exact right time.

That’s not to say he was ducking Michigan. Surely, Meyer believes he could lead Ohio State to another win over UM if he was the coach in 2019, but he’s not. He also knows it probably would have been his most difficult win over the Wolverines yet.

In 2015, Michigan was in its first year under Harbaugh and just wasn’t ready. In 2017, Harbaugh nearly pulled off the upset with John O’Korn at quarterback. This time around, the Wolverines will have a different animal at quarterback and Ohio State will have a different head coach.

So, for the first time under Harbaugh, Michigan football should have the edge at head coach and quarterback. And if that proves to be true, the Wolverines will get their first win over Ohio State since 2011, the last time it was true.
