Jabari Abdur-Rahim

While we don’t know what Howard’s final coaching staff will be, it is starting to take shape. It sounds like Saddi Washington is going to stay onboard as an assistant coach and multiple sources have said that former St. Joseph’s head coach, Phil Martelli is expected to become an assistant too.

Martelli will have strong recruiting ties to the East Coast and that will be a good thing for Michigan but what will help to recruit more is the retention of Washington who can help sell recruits on the new coaching staff.

One guy that Beilein’s staff was getting more interested in was 6-foot-6 wing Jabari Abdur-Rahim, the No. 60 player in the country.  Abdur-Rahim is from New Jersey and while he had ties to Georgia, he doesn’t anymore and this is where Martelli could come in. Washington will also play a key role here because the previous staff was very interested.

The Wolverines could use a true wing like Abdur-Rahim and according to UMHoops, he scored 40 points in front of Michigan coaches last month and in one game went 10-of-15 from 3-point range.
