Haynes is departing

Assistant coach DeAndre Haynes announced on Twitter that he be departing Michigan without any indication as to where he will go next.

“As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. My time here at the University of Michigan was nothing short of a dream.”

Haynes went on to say that he was thankful for the opportunity to coach at Michigan and for the time he spent with the “best coaches in the business”. He finished his series of Tweets by wishing Juwan Howard the “best of luck” and by saying he doesn’t know what’s next for him or his family.

DeAndre – much like the other assistants – is rising in the ranks and all of their names are going to come up on head coaching searches in the future.

Prior to coaching college basketball, Haynes was a star at Kent State University where he shined, becoming the all-time leader in assists and moved on to a long playing career overseas.

He began coaching at his Alma Mater and left in 2016 for another assistant gig in Toledo. He then spent a very brief stint at Illinois State before moving onto Ann Arbor. With Kent State losing their top assistant coach, Haynes could find himself back in Ohio.

Two coaches are gone, one name thrown into the mix.
