Michigan Basketball: 5 Bold predictions for Wolverines with Juwan Howard
Michigan’s rivalry with Michigan State will not go as predicted
Michigan lost Charles Matthew, they lost Jordan Poole, and – barring a miracle – they will be losing Ignas Brazdeikis and yet they kept an abundance of talent including two of the starters from last year.
Simpson and Teske did not return just to go winless against the in-state rival Spartans and they have been around long enough to experience success against State in their freshman and sophomore seasons.
Coming into this year, with a new coach and a new unknown scheme, a lot of young men are going to have to step up and play a big role especially when it comes to playing in a rivalry game.
As I said before, Nunez is one of those guys potentially stepping into the sixth man role or even in the starting rotation. Getting Wilson to come back to Michigan would mean a lot and he could enter in the rotation as a big starting shooting guard. There’s also the potential for Franz Wagner as he decides on playing in the professional European leagues or following in his brother’s footsteps.
Sparty came into the Crysler arena and took down Michigan last year but that won’t happen again.
Look for Michigan to split with Sparty, one home win and one road loss before the Big Ten Tournament begins.
