Zak Zinter

Who would want a 6-foot-6, 300-pound versatile offensive lineman that can pull?  Everyone.

Zak Zinter had offers from a majority of the Power Five conferences and choose Michigan earlier this month becoming the third May commit.

When Zinter takes a break from tossing defensive lineman to the dirt, he drives through his blocks and doesn’t quit until the whistle.

Although 247Sports lists Zinter as an offensive tackle, he has experience at all three positions on the line.

“I actually played center my freshman year, tackle my sophomore year and then guard last year. I like to pull and get around the edge. He really thinks I can do a lot. He (Ed Warinner) just wants to get the best five guys on the field so wherever they need me I’ll play there. I just want to get on the field.”

Rivals rank Zinter as the No. 4 football player from Massachusetts and No. 16 at his position.

247Sports has Zinter at No. 3 in his state and 26th at his position with a 9096 composition rating. Brian Dohn from 247 provided the following evaluation:

"Strong, thick build best suited for guard but has length to play right tackle. Quick feet and bends at knees. Sinks hips in running game. Accurate with hand placement. Very good body control. Athleticism to pull. Physical and finishes blocks. Plays with nasty streak. Once engaged is able to overpower on second level. Needs to improve lateral quickness. Smart and high football IQ. Adding flexibility and ability to rotate upper body important. Development of kick step is important. Multi-year starter at Top 20 program. Should develop into a Day 3 NFL draft pick."

Zinter and Mazzccua are the only 2020 offensive line commits so far; however, the gigantic Jeffrey Persi from California has visited Ann Arbor and could add NFL size to the Michigan trenches.
