Howard will help the big guys get better

There have been a lot of questions about what Howard will use as an offensive system and what kind of Xs and Os coach he will be. After six seasons of him being an assistant coach, it’s hard to know but just about everyone from the Heat, including head coach Erik Spoelstra, gave him a glowing review.

While defense is supposedly one of Howard’s specialties, another one is working with big guys. Obviously, he was a standout power forward with Michigan basketball and then an NBA All-Star.

Howard helped develop Hassan Whiteside and next season, one of his biggest impacts could be helping guys like Jon Teske, Brandon Johns and Colin Castleton take the next step in their development.

Teske might be the best center in the Big Ten already, but if the Wolverines are going to win a lot of games next season, he will need to improve offensively and Howard should be able to help with that. He should also help develop Johns and Castleton, two four-stars from 2018 that will be vital to UM’s success in 2019-20.
