Billy Donovan

Billy Donovan is a big name with all the credentials you could want. He has won two national championships and reached three Final Fours at Florida, while also taking the Thunder to the NBA playoffs four times.

Donovan is a good recruiter and he is a good X’s and O’s coach. He would be a home-run hire and with just one year left on his contract, he is an actual possibility.

It’s hard to know if Donovan would be interested in going back to college but the Wolverines could certainly pay him a hefty salary and Michigan is definitely an elite job, with the program fresh off three straight Sweet 16 appearances and two trips to the national title game since 2013.

If Donovan wanted to get back into the college ranks, this is a job that doesn’t require much building. He could possibly help the Wolverines take the next step and build on the recent success they enjoyed under Beilein. The biggest problem is that he could be ready to leave again in a few years.

However, there is no doubt that if Michigan was able to hire Donovan, it would be a home run that would keep UM among national contenders for years to come.
