Michigan Football: Running backs, this year and beyond

This is Tru Wilson’s final year playing for Michigan football; however, that’s not the case for freshman Charbonnet and sophomore Turner. We already know about those guys so who will be stepping into Wilson’s shoes?

As of right now, there are no RB commits for the 2020 class but there are several prospects who could change that any day.

2020

First, there’s Mecose Todd, the No. 37 running back in his class.

"“I’m going to enroll in college in January. I’m going to make my decision in late June or early July. I’ll be ready to get this process over with before we go into fall camp.”"

While Mecose is certain on his dates, the college he will be attending is little hazier.

"“Obviously Ole Miss, Michigan, and Florida are all up there. I can’t really say right now, but those are three schools that have really showed me a lot of interest.”"

Tirek Murphy is another option. As the No. 1 player out of New York, Tirek was being courted by Notre Dame; although, their running backs coach Autry Denson left the program. Both sides have said it hasn’t affected the recruiting of Murphy even though the crystal balls now fall on Michigan. Aside from being the top dog of New York, Murphy is also the No. 18 RB in the country.

After Murphy, there’s Blake Corum who has 5 crystal balls all in favor of Blake importing his talents to Ann Arbor. Corum is the No. 17 RB and hails from Laurel, Maryland.

Brian Dohn from 247sports provided a scouting report on Corum.

"Corum has burst, can change direction at a high speed, is patient in waiting for plays to develop and he knows how to set up his blocks down the field. He is elusive, and he he runs with power. He has the speed to get to the edge, and the balance to turn the corner. As he gets older, his size and strength will continue to develop. He also will develop more ability to cut back."

Dohn was right to mention Blake’s speed so many times. Corum ran a verified 4.44 forty.

2021

There’s a duo of young men who are predicted to land in Wolverines territory for the 2021 season.

Four-star in-state recruit Donovan Edwards has a higher rating of the two. With a 9763 composite rating, Edwards is No. 4 in-state and No.4 at the RB position. Nationally, Donovan comes in at No. 60. Out of five crystal balls, Michigan football is leading with Ohio State coming in second.

Corey Kiner is the other one with a Michigan lean. Three crystal balls all have Kiner committing to the Wolverines. Kiner is the No. 3 player out of Ohio, the No. 5 RB, and No. 101 nationally.
