Aubrey Dawkins

Aubrey Dawkins will not be known as the guy who missed the tip to take down Zion with the Golden Knights, rather Aubrey should be remembered as the guy who drained every three and left Michigan because his dad became the head coach for UCF.

I would have done the same if I were six inches taller and had any semblance of athletic ability.

The former Wolverine is predicted on several mock draft boards as being the first current or past Michigan basketball player to be taken off the board. At least the boards that don’t list Iggy.

Walterfootball has Aubrey taken in the second round as the 35th pick to the Atlanta Hawks.

NBAdraftroom says Aubrey will land with the Knicks.

"Dawkins burst onto the national scene with the big game against Duke. He’s got nice SG size and a silky J."

Most of the analysis on Dawkins says he’s a second rounder or potentially undrafted but his scouting report from NBAscoutinglive gives Aubrey some hope of hearing his name called to the big stage.

"Aubrey Dawkins is an athletic swingman that can shoot and score the basketball.  He really excels at knocking down threes, and his best skill on offense is his ability to make shots off of spot-up opportunities. As for the rest of his game, he will need refinement.  Some feel that his play during the Adidas Nations Tournament this past summer may warrant serious draft consideration for him. At the moment, Dawkins may rate as a second round prospect for the 2019 draft, as his athleticism and jump shot may be significant factors in him getting long looks from NBA scouts and teams."

The former Michigan basketball sixth man of the year also received high praise from Draftexpress.

"Dawkins has good size at 6’6 and 205 pounds, and has reportedly added more strength to his frame this summer. His size and improving frame, coupled with the fact that he’s an explosive athlete with impressive leaping ability and nice speed in the open floor, gives him a nice package of physical tools looking to the next level."
