College Football News & NCAA

College Football News

College Football News (CFN) took it one step further than CBS Sports in that, they rank all the way to 130. Since few care about who ranks outside of the top 25 and most only want to know the top ten, I’ll stick to listing ten.

CFN went the same route as SportingNews by ranking Alabama one and Clemson two followed by Georgia, Ohio State, and Oklahoma.

Michigan, in their opinion, is No. 6 and here’s what they had to say about it.

"Lost in the disastrous finish was how Michigan was a win away from going to the Big Ten Championship – and almost certainly – the College Football Playoff. This year’s version will have another outstanding defense, and the offense should be more explosive with the young receiving corps maturing, and QB Shea Patterson a solid veteran."

LSU,  Florida, Oregon, and Texas A&M complete the top ten.

NCAA

NCAA went the conservative route, Clemson No. 1, Alabama No. 2, Ohio State No. 3, Georgia No. 4, and Oklahoma No. 5.

For those of you Oklahoma doubters saying they can’t be that good again, they can’t three-peat for the Heisman. Just know Jalen Hurts is their QB and he received immediate eligibility as a graduate transfer to play. He is a veteran who knows how to win records and any questions about his accuracy were answered when he backed-up Tua Tagovailoa last season.

Now that my rant is over, NCAA placed the Longhorns at No. 6 and Michigan at No.7, citing the talented receivers and the legendary defensive coordinator.

"Sure, there are concerns the Wolverines can’t take the next step (beating Ohio State). But Jim Harbaugh has won 10 games in three of his four seasons. QB Shea Patterson returns with talented receivers Donovan Peoples-Jones and Nico Collins. Defensive coordinator Don Brown will work wonders again, though Devin Bush, Chase Winovich and Rashan Gary are gone."
