Michigan Football: 8 headlines surrounding the Wolverines
The Draft
In case you missed it, the NFL draft happened and several players were selected while others were picked up in the free agency within days.
I wrote a Where each Wolverines draft pick is headed article immediately following the draft which you can check out or keep reading and I’ll summarize it.
Devin Bush, round one, pick ten, Pittsburgh Steelers.
Rashan Gary, round one, pick 12, Green Bay Packers.
Chase Winovich, round three, pick 14, New England Patriots.
David Long, round three, pick 16, Los Angeles Rams.
Zach Gentry, round five, pick three, Pittsburgh Steelers.
Yes, two selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers and its not a coincidence. Michigan Alumnus and NFL analyst Rich Eisen asked Mike Tomlin, what makes Michigan so special? his response, priceless.
“Rich, you just get that feeling when you walking into Schembechler Hall, that you’re in a college football setting,” Tomlin said. “And then you see The Big House in the back, and it lets you know you’re kinda in the right place.”
After the draft was over the undrafted free agency market opened up and the week concluded with 13 Michigan football players who found themselves on NFL rosters.
Karan Higdon to the Texans, Lawrence Marshall and Ian Bunting to the Bears, Tyree Kinnel to the Bengals, Wilton Speight to the 49er’s, Brandon Watson to the Jaguars, Bryan Mone to the Seahawks, Juwann Bushell-Beaty to the Redskins, and Ian Bunting also to the Bears.
