Criticize Harbaugh as much as you want, but it’s hard to look at the moves he made this offseason and say he doesn’t know what it takes to win.

Surely, he saw that his offensive system wasn’t working and that changes needed to be made.

So what did Harbaugh do? He hired away Nick Saban’s co-offensive coordinator and finally installed a 21st-century offense.

If there is one thing Michigan football fans wanted after the way last season ended, that was it and guess what? They got it. And folks, it is going to revolutionize Michigan football as we know it.

Gattis going to change the way Michigan plays offense, but he should also help the way UM defends the spread.

Playing an old-school offense each day in practice definitely didn’t prepare the Wolverines to defend teams like Ohio State. But now that Don Brown has to coach against Gattis every day, he should have a much better idea for what it will take to contain Ryan Day and the Buckeyes.

Harbaugh realized Michigan football needed to change and it has. And those changes, coupled with all the pillars already in place, means the Wolverines will be excellent in 2019. So when preseason polls inevitably rank UM among the best teams in college football, don’t bat an eye because it is 100 percent true.
