No.68

You probably guessed it, Shea Patterson comes in at No. 68 out of all college football players in the country and the sixth best QB according to the ranking.

Tua Tagovailoa from Alabama is first followed by Justin Herbert at No. 5 and Jake Fromm at 15.

K.J. Costello from Stanford sits at No. 38 and Steven Montez from Colorado landed at No. 55

Most would argue that Shea could beat out Montez and Costello but it will all depend on how successful this new offense is under first-time play-caller Josh Gattis.

Nick Baumgardner from the Detroit Free Press wrote an article analyzing last season and provided some insight into what I believe should be the bare minimum for Patterson in terms of production this fall.

"The Wolverines ran the ball about 61% of the time last season. That number needs to adjust more toward a 50-50 split. Let Patterson get to 400 pass attempts (over 13 games). He has averaged about 8.3 yards per attempt during his last two seasons as a college quarterback. If history repeats itself, that’s about 3,300 yards."

But then again Shea Patterson’s numbers were right on par with the sixth pick of the NFL draft, Daniel Jones. At Duke, Jones threw for 2,674 yards, 22 TDs, and nine INTs.

Shea amassed 2,600 yards, adding 22 TDs, and seven INTs.

Could we hear, with the first pick in the 2020 NFL draft the New York Giants select, Shea Patterson, quarterback, Michigan?
