Third round

Chase Winovich

Pick: 14

Chase Winovich went exactly where he was predicted to go, the third round. Chase’s tenacity and enthusiasm unknown to mankind will be missed but he couldn’t have been drafted by a better team. With the 14th pick in the third round of the NFL draft, the New England Patriots selected Chase Winovich.

In case you are new to the NFL, or if you live in a pineapple under the sea, Chase will be joining the former Michigan quarterback and future NFL Hall-of-Famer Tom Brady.

The Patriots lost Pro Football Focus Second Team All-Pro defensive end Trey Flowers to the Detroit Lions and Chase is a fitting replacement.

David Long

Pick: 16

The Los Angeles native is heading home. Michigan football’s David Long was selected by the Los Angeles Rams with the 16th pick of the third round.

It comes as no surprise why the Rams chose Long. As NFL.com Lance Zierlein comically and yet poetically wrote about David Long:

"Death, taxes and David Long sitting under a receiver’s chin waiting to jam and bully the release – all three are inevitable. He lacks height, length and makeup burst, but it is hard to find tape where those areas came back to haunt him very often. He’s patient from press, stays connected to routes underneath, but may have to adjust to off-man and prove he can withstand vertical challenges against taller targets. He’s not as long, loose or fast as teams like, but he’s a consistent cover man with the talent to find reps early in his career."

Long should have an instant impact with the Rams who were ranked 14th in the league for passing yards allowed and 23rd in rushing.

In LA, David will have some great mentors as he will be competing for playing time with NFL greats Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib.

Now we move onto the fifth.
