Michigan Football: Where each Wolverines draft pick is headed
The Michigan football season is over and the draft has come to a close. Let’s take a look at which former Michigan Football players were selected and where.
The 2018 NFL draft was an odd one when it comes to the number of Michigan football players selected. The only two players drafted were offensive tackle Mason Cole, who was taken in the third round by the Cardinals, and defensive tackle Maurice Hurt Jr., who was taken in the fifth round by the Raiders.
Having only two players drafted and none of them being in the first round is not usual for a program as historic and competitive like Michigan. This year, the Wolverines really lived up to the name and were drafted early and often. Four Michigan football players were taken before the fourth round and all to great NFL teams.
While it’s sad to lose some of the future NFL greats before their eligibility is up, it’s going to be exciting to watch these guys on Sundays; a day after the current Wolverines dismantle whatever opponent that made the unfortunate mistake of challenging the maize and blue.
The excitement; however, still remains in Ann Arbor with those who stayed and those incoming freshman. There are a plethora of potential first-rounders who will be waiting to hear their names called in the years to come. Whether it be Shea Patterson or one of the many talented wide receivers or someone who hasn’t yet dawned the famous winged helmet, someone will carry on the tradition of 81 consecutive years of Michigan men being selected in the NFL draft.
But we’re not here to talk about them so without further ado, here are the Michigan football players who were selected in the 2019 NFL draft.
