The first round of the draft is over and we still have six rounds to go. How many more Michigan football players will see their name on an NFL roster? Who knows, but here’s a look at 2020.

The former Michigan football star, Rashan Gary, was an obvious winner for any NFL team and yet he slipped all the way down to 12. On the other hand, Devin Bush‘s spectacular combine results moved him all the way up to the tenth pick.

Teammates Chase Winovich, Zach Gentry, David Long, Karan Higdon, and a few others remain on the board. NFL.com has Chase slipping to the third round; however, he could be taken earlier tonight. David Long is also a projected third rounder even though the lockdown corner ran a sub 4.5 forty in the combine.

NFL analyst Lance Zierlein has Zach Gentry undrafted but listed as a priority free agent. Gentry could have been given a higher grade but his 4.9 forty at the NFL combine could’ve really hurt his chances. Zach attempted the forty again at Michigan football’s pro day and improved but it might not be enough to get selected

Following the Pro Day, Gentry had this to say about his poor combine performance.

"“I reran the 40 today, there were teams that had me in the 4.6 to 4.7’s and that’s where I was at today. I think I was in the low 4.6 to 4.7’s. I wasn’t happy about the times I ran (at the combine) so that’s why I reran it. Legs were a little taxed. There are a million reasons why (he ran poorly at the combine). I’m just happy to get that cleared up and run a good time. I’ve been pretty pissed off the last couple of weeks about (his combine 40 time). More pissed off that this is more consistent with what I’ve been running.”"

To be fair, he did have a similar season as the 20th pick in the Draft, Noah Fant. Fant brought in 39 receptions for 519 yards, averaging 13.3 yards per reception. Zach caught 32 passes for 514 yards and averaged 16.1 yards per catch. Of course, Fant ran a 4.5 forty at the combine which skyrocketed his stock.

In the end, what if’s will be forever present. What if Gentry played his final season at Michigan? Would he be a first rounder? Since he is gone, we will look forward to the 2020 draft and see which players could be selected and where.
