Michigan Basketball: 5 potential replacements for Ignas Brazdeikis
Grad Transfer from William & Mary
Justin Pierce is one of the hottest names in that graduate transfers market and Michigan basketball is in a battle with Notre Dame and North Carolina of the ACC to land him.
Pierce is a 6-foot-7 forward that reminds me a little of Duncan Robinson with his skill and ability to shoot, although he slumped from 3-point range last season and dipped to 32 percent, fresh off a season in which he connected on 41 percent of his triples as a sophomore.
He’s appealing to Michigan because he is a savvy offensive player that can shoot, attack the hoop and facilitate. He averaged 4.1 assists per game last season, more than Iggy and Poole combined and his back-door cuts often lead to easy buckets. His ability to finish around the rim is impressive and he also has a mid-range game.
Alongside Simpson and Teske in the pick-and-roll, he could be the ideal fit. If he chose the Wolverines, who will he visit in the coming days before going to North Carolina, he would probably be the three and Livers the four but those spots can essentially be interchangeable.
Michigan has other big bodies it can throw in the mix if needed, but what it needs is scorers who can space the floor and someone who can make a shot inside the 3-point line but outside the key.
