Michigan Football: 5 things to know about Wolverines 2019 season
Reloading is complete
Returning eight starters on the offensive is a blessing and should allow for a dominating season. The only question – outside of the running back position – was the tight end job.
However, tight ends coach Sherrone Moore doesn’t appear to be worried about the early departure of Shea Patterson’s ‘go-to’ big man Zach Gentry.
"Sean’s really just done his part. When his number’s called he does it, but I think the thing this year we’re gonna have, we’re gonna have so many playmakers it’s going to be hard to key on one guy. If you want to try to stop Sean then you have to deal with Donovan [Peoples-Jones]. If you stop Donovan then you have to deal with Nico then you have to deal with Nick then you have to deal with all the other guys we’ve got. Sean’s really taken the part of trying to be that security blanket for him but most of the guys are doing a really good job.”"
As for the defense, cornerbacks coach Mike Zordich voiced his confidence in his young men.
David Long may have moved on but with how enthusiastic coach Z was about Ambry Thomas, there shouldn’t be any worry.
Vincent Gray is also a guy who can get it done. The injury to returning starter Lavert Hill has allowed Gray some time at the position and he could be a more permanent fixture should he continue impressing the coaches.
