The guy who took the biggest step forward of any player on the roster might be Donovan Jeter. Michigan needed someone to step up at that spot and Jeter proved to be more than equal to the task this spring.
Michael Dwumfour was bothered by some injuries but he, Carlo Kemp and Jeter, along with Mason should give Michigan a solid rotation inside, especially with guys like Mazi Smith and Chris Hinton too.
At defensive end, Aidan Hutchinson became a man. He was dominating against the run and in the scrimmage, the offense had very little running room. It remains to be seen if Hutchinson can be an elite pass rusher but as a run stuffer, he will be.
As a whole, Michigan looks really strong on the defensive line and while there can only be a few starters, a bunch of guys will play this season and since they are all high-quality, that’s a good thing for UM.
