Michigan Football: 5 positions to watch during Wolverines spring game
New-look secondary
Without David Long and Tyree Kinnel, Michigan football was always going to look different in the secondary and with Lavert Hill missing the spring due to injury, some others have been forced to step up.
The two guys at corner that have taken the biggest steps forward are undoubtedly Ambry Thomas and redshirt freshman Vincent Gray.
They have been the top two guys on the outside and it helps that both are over 6-foot. Thomas is also one of the fastest players on the team and is a dynamic return specialist. Gray, meanwhile, is also a stellar athlete that offers a 6-foot-2 frame.
It will be fascinating to watch those two guys and hopefully, they will get plenty of chances to cover Michigan’s top wide receivers. The Wolverines need to know if these guys can hold up against elite athletes and covering guys like Black is a great place to start.
I’m both excited and curious to see how they hold up. Gemon Green is another DB that has flashed and Myles Sims has also had his moments, so there will be plenty of opportunities for guys to stand out.
