Michigan Football surprises us every year with breakout athletes no one saw coming. Here we will discuss who those sleepers could be in 2019.

Michigan Football is going to have to replace a lot of top talent on both sides of the ball in 2019 and not all of those positions will be filled by the expected starters.

Every year we see a few underdogs step up and get some significant playing time. Most of the time the obvious choice gets the start but its Tru Wilson‘s of the world who get everyone asking, who’s that guy and where did he come from?

No matter what, there are guys that seemingly come out of nowhere to contribute, even at big-time programs like Michigan, which is filled with four and even some five-star prospects. Guys slip through the cracks and others stop developing when they reach the college level, while more simply will do whatever it takes to play.

This list starts off with a guy who is following Wilson’s path –  a walk-on safety who eventually moved to the running back position. When Wilson came to Michigan football, he didn’t have a scholarship and eventually worked his way up the depth chart and earned his scholarship last season as well as 62 carries in the regular season.

Due to some injuries at the running back position, Wilson is now seeing snaps as the No. 1 guy with Zach Charbonnet, Christian Turner and Hassan Haskins all sidelined. Charbonnet is out for the spring. Turner and Haskins could return but it’s unknown if they will.

That has opened the door for a long shot to take some snaps in the backfield and that’s where we still get started.
