Michigan Football: 3 things we learned from Wolverines open practice
Michigan football held its first open practice of the spring on Saturday and here are some of the things we learned about the Wolverines Saturday.
The Michigan football team took the field for the first time in a public setting Saturday, holding an open practice Saturday afternoon in the Big House.
Of course, with the spring game being set for next Saturday, the Wolverines werenât going to show a ton and in practice in which the team wasnât wearing full pads, the closest we got to actual football was the 7-on-7 drills at the end.
Yet, there were still things to take away from the couple hours Michigan football was on the practice field. One such thing was the fact that Michael Dwumfour was on the field and dressed out despite talk of him being hurt a few days ago.
Others such as Donovan Peoples-Jones and Nico Collins were still sidelined though, along with what seems like the entire running back group. All jokes aside, injuries have been a bit of an issue this spring for the Wolverines but itâs part of the grind.
We also got a glimpse of the depth chart in action, especially at positions like quarterback. Shea Patterson took the first reps in every drill, followed by Dylan McCaffrey, Joe Milton, Cade McNamara and then Brandon Peters.
So it wouldnât be shocking if Peters transferred this spring or played out the season and transferred as a graduate who could play immediately in 2020. Either way, itâs becoming pretty clear he will never start another game for the Wolverines.
For a look at some of the other things we learned Saturday, here are three key things starting with some position battle updates.
