Iggy considers leaving but comes back

Looking at things from a big picture perspective, as long as one of these three players returns next season, Michigan basketball should be a really tough team. Jon Teske, Zavier Simpson and Isaiah Livers are quality starters. Add Poole and/or Iggy plus a freshman from this season or incoming four-star Jalen Wilson and the Wolverines are in business.

Essentially, one guy needs to leave because Michigan is at its scholarship limit or will be. Matthews is likely that guy but Iggy could be the one to follow. Much like Matthews last season or Wagner in 2017, it feels like Brazdeikis could go either way.

He burst on the scene and led the Wolverines in scoring. Iggy scored just under 15 a game and made 39 percent from downtown in addition to grabbing 5.4 rebounds and being a solid defender. His efficiency rating was 21.4, much higher than Poole or Matthews.

Iggy’s total shooting percentage was 57.3 and his win share was also higher than Matthews and Poole. He was a driving force behind some key wins and Michigan was at its best when he was rolling.

It makes sense for Iggy to submit his name without an agent and depending on how that process goes, it could be a 50/50 deal. Beilein sounded confident that everyone but Matthews would be back and there is no question that Brazdeikis could use work on his offense.

Iggy can get to the bucket and averaged 4.1 free-throw attempts but he needs to work on finishing and also developing a mid-range game. He knows how to use his size and quickness to score on overmatched opponents but he won’t find that as much in the NBA.

Brazdeikis is a versatile forward that could play the three and the four at the next level, yet his game is too raw to be a first-round pick at this point and unless he has a shot at going in the first round, I don’t see Iggy leaving Michigan. So when it’s all said and done, I think he’ll be back too.
