Bench

Isaiah Livers (7.9 PPG, 3.9 RPG): A

In terms of his job, no one on the team did it better than Isaiah Livers, who averaged nearly eight points a game off the bench in addition to leading the Wolverines in 3-point percentage (42.6). He is one of the few guys that can consistently make jump shots and regardless of who is back, he should be starting next season.

Eli Brooks (2.5 PPG, 1.1 APG): C-

Brooks had an up-and-down year and actually lost his job as the backup point guard at one point to DeJulius before getting it back during the Big Ten and NCAA tournament. Brooks defended well but his offense was bad. He shot 37 percent from the field and 29 percent from deep. He may have a spot in the rotation next season but it’s tenuous.

Castleton, DeJulius, Johns — Incomplete

For the other three freshmen that played significant minutes, it’s hard to really give them a grade. They all had some good moments. Castleton went off for 11 points against Nebraska while Johns had eight points and eight rebounds in a January win over Indiana. DeJulius never scored more than four points but showed some potential as a ball handler and scorer.

Those were the 10 guys that really played key minutes this season and have a future in the program. Matthews, Poole and Iggy could all be gone and that will be the story to follow in the coming months, but even if they all leave, there is still hope for next season and beyond.
