Frontcourt

Charles Matthews (12.2 PPG, 5.0 RPG): C+

Matthews seemed to take a step back offensively by the end of the season. Certainly, there were some injury issues and that caused his average to dip some, but the reality is that his jumper wasn’t any better than it was last season and that’s a problem heading into the draft. He’s a great defender but you have to be able to score too in the NBA.

Ignas Brazdeikis (14.8 PPG, 5.4 RPG): A-

It’s hard to have a better freshman year than Brazdeikis who was the Big Ten Freshman of the Year after leading Michigan basketball in scoring. He made 39.8 percent of his 3-pointers and could very well turn pro. It’s hard to see him not getting picked in the second round but if he wants to be a first-rounder, he should return and work on his mid-range game which is non-existent. Iggy is a solid defender but averaged less than one assist per game and has little iso game, which he will need at the next level. His one-on-one skills need work and he’s not alone.

Jon Teske: A (9.5 PPG, 7.0 RPG, 2.0 BPG)

Teske really did have a spectacular season for the Wolverines. He ended up averaging 0.6 3-point makes per game and even had an 18-point half against Northwestern. That seemed impossible a couple of years ago and his development as a shooter and offensive talent was remarkable. He still has room to grow, especially with his post offense but he is a cornerstone on this team and that shows how far he has come the past two seasons.
