Daxton Hill

Position: Saftey

High School: Booker T. Washington,  Tulsa, OK

According to The Opening’s national leaderboard, Michigan Football’s top 2019 commit, safety Daxton Hill, is ranked second in the nation based on their criteria. He sits behind Auburn commit Owen Pappoe.

Listed at 6 feet tall and 187 pounds, Hill ran a 4.30 forty yard dash and a 4.33 shuttle. His forty time was tied for first nationally.

Hill’s 247sport.com profile has him as the number one player out of Oklahoma,  the number one safety in the nation, and the 14th overall football recruit from the 2019 class. Additionally, 247sports listed Hill as the eight highest Michigan recruit all-time, behind greats like Rashan Gary and Lamarr Woodley.

As the younger brother of a future draftee and former Oklahoma State running back Justice Hill, Daxton received a lot of attention early and after committing to Michigan initially, he flipped and announced his commitment to Alabama.

Daxton very quickly changed his mind and re-committed to the Wolverines.

Josh Newkirk from 247sports wrote of Hill’s performance at the All American Bowl Day.

"“It’s hard to not to like what you see out fo the five-star safety. No.1, he has that “it” factor for speed. He simply can accelerate and catch up to a receiver when needed. You can see the way he closes on an opponent and would be in on a number of tackles if they were allowed. Numerous times he lined up in man-to-man converge and blanketed his receiver. He might as well have been part of their hip, he was locked in. And for that reason, he didn’t get tested much. He’s a legit talent and it’s hard not to think he won’t have a chance to play early this fall.”"

What the coaches say about Hill

Head coach Jim Harbaugh said:

"“He’s got great contact courage and may be the fastest guy on the field, even with his height, the last couple of games he was the fastest guy out there. I think he can be that in college, a big-time safety. He’s a low-key guy. Doesn’t like a ton of attention. I love his humility that way. He’s got it set up to be one of the best safeties we’ve ever had.”"
