Donovan Jeter at DT

Heading into this spring, one of the biggest positions that people had questions about was defensive tackle following the graduation of Brian Mone and some others up front.

There were even some reports that Michigan football was looking to add a defensive tackle via a graduate transfer, however, that move came at defensive end, with Mike Danna of Central Michigan transferring to join the Wolverines.

That meant improvement at defensive tackle had to come from within and with freshmen such as Chris Hinton and Mazi Smith. For a while, it looked like those two would need to make an immediate impact, yet Donovan Jeter has taken a huge step forward and as of right now, according to Harbaugh, he’s one of the starters at defensive tackle.

Here’s what Harbaugh said on his podcast:

“Donovan Jeter is starting at the 3-technique, and Carlo Kemp is our starting nose. We feel really good about the defensive front and are starting to know who the starters are.”
