Michigan is more battle tested

When it comes down to it, Michigan basketball has faced a tougher schedule than Texas Tech and while that alone doesn’t mean anything one way or another, the Wolverines have more proven success against top competition.

Certainly, the three losses to Michigan State during the season were a killer for every single Michigan basketball fan. However, the Spartans are also the third-ranked team according to Kenpom and in the last two meetings, Michigan led by 12 and 13 respectively before letting the lead slip away.

Michigan also blew out Purdue and North Carolina by double digits, two teams ranked ninth or better that are still alive. Michigan also has four other wins over top-25 teams. Also, the Wolverines have faced more difficult adjusted offenses and defenses all year.

That is going to give Michigan an advantage because while the Red Raiders are a very good defensive team, they aren’t much better than Michigan State. And while UM did well against other elite defense, the Red Raiders haven’t, struggling against Duke.

Texas Tech definitely has the talent to win this game, but the Red Raiders haven’t beaten a top-10 team this year which makes you wonder if they can Thursday night in Anaheim.
