Michigan has the size and athleticism to compete with the big boys

One of the reasons Michigan has had such a dominating defense this season is size. When it comes down to it, Jon Teske is a force in the paint and he led the Big Ten in blocked shots this season, which isn’t a surprise with him at 7-foot-2.

However, Teske isn’t the only Wolverine with good size. Michigan also has 6-foot-11 Colin Castleton and a bunch of other guys like Iggy, Charles Matthews and Livers who are all in the 6-foot-7 range.

Matthews is also really long and Iggy is strong and athletic. All of these things at least give Michigan hope if they come up against teams like Duke, Gonzaga, Kentucky or North Carolina, Virginia and yes, Michigan State. It will be tough, but the pieces are in place to compete.

None of those teams is simply going to dominate Michigan inside or beat them with just superior athleticism. If they do, it won’t be easy because while the Wolverines aren’t necessarily a great shooting team, they are loaded with talents and difficult matchups.
