Coaching is a big advantage

Starting off, maybe the biggest reason why Michigan basketball can advance to the Final Four is John Beilein, who is without a doubt one of the top coaches in the country.

Obviously, coaches can’t win games by themselves. They need players but Beilein has that this year with guys like Ignas Brazdeikis, Jordan Poole, Zavier Simpson, Jon Teske, Charles Matthews and Isaiah Livers.

Michigan is a little short on depth, however, they have everything else Beilein needs for his team to be a really tough out. Certainly, there are some offensive issues to deal with but there is no one better at getting his team prepared for these games than Beilein, who has taken four teams to the Elite 8.

There is a reason why Beilein has a 24-12 record in the tournament throughout his career and why he has lost only once in his opening game as head coach of Michigan basketball. He knows how to guide his team through these contests and even though coaches can’t do everything when it comes to the NCAA tournament, having a great coach means a heck of a lot.
