Can Michigan get revenge?

Obviously, a win at home against Michigan State would have already given Michigan basketball a share of the Big Ten championship, which is a bummer. But at the same time, how great would it be to clinch a piece of it by beating the Spartans on the road?

Certainly, winning at Michigan State is very difficult to do, but the Wolverines have done it before including last season. That took a special effort from Moritz Wagner and winning this game is going to take a similar effort from someone — Ignas Brazdeikis or Jordan Poole, along with a stellar effort from Simpson.

If Charles Matthews is unable to go it will hurt, but Isaiah Livers has been on a roll and Colin Castleton has shown he deserves more minutes off the bench. Jon Teske also needs to become more of a factor in this game down low and it seems in the past two outings, the Wolverines have realized that and fed him the ball more.

Outside of Winston, Michigan has to keep Kenny Goins in check and they also have to watch sharpshooter Matt McQuaid. Those guys combined for 29 points and 16 rebounds in Ann Arbor and that can’t happen again if UM is going to prevail.

I see this as a truly 50/50 game. The Spartans might have the edge being at home, but I just have a hard time seeing Michigan play as poorly as it did two weeks ago. This team feels like it found its groove again and Saturday night, we will find out for sure.

Going out on a limb, I am going to say Michigan basketball gets great games from Simpson, Teske and Brazdeikis and finds a way to beat the Spartans 70-67.
