UM will meet the Zags in the Elite 8

As far as the bold predictions for March go, this might be the boldest. However, I just have a feeling we will see this matchup in Anaheim, California on March 30.

If Michigan shares the regular season title or wins the tournament title, it should easily be the highest number two seed, if not a No. 1. Yet, just assuming the Wolverines are a two, it’s easy to see the committee putting them in the West Region like 2018.

Gonzaga is the top seed in the bracket and probably the lowest-ranked No. 1 seed just because their resume is weaker due to playing in a weak conference. When the bracket comes out, that will set up a possible Michigan-Gonzaga matchup, one we didn’t get last season.

It’s hard for me to say if Michigan will win that game. By that point, things are 50/50 and with two incredible coaches, Beilein and Mark Few, maybe the two best not to win an NCAA championship, who knows what the result would be.

Something is holding me back from calling this year’s Michigan team a final four squad, but I have a good feeling that they will bring home Big Ten hardware for the third straight year and make another deep run in the NCAA tournament.
