Michigan football has a lot of work to do on the 2020 recruiting class and with that in mind, here are five in-state prospects the Wolverines need to land.

When it comes to Michigan football, the Wolverines have always done most of their recruiting in the Midwest and while Ohio and Pennslyvania are strong producers of football talent, UM also has a number of key in-state targets to focus on in 2020.

While Michigan football always does well in the state of Michigan, there are going to be some big recruiting battles looming. The Wolverines will even be competing for a five-star offensive lineman in Justin Rogers, who paid a visit to Ann Arbor over the weekend.

Overall, there are a few less than four-star recruits in the state of Michigan, but the bottom line is that the Wolverines are centering their class around some key guys in the state. Michigan already has plenty of competition for a guy like Rogers and as well as some of the other big names.

Holding serve close to home is recruiting 101 and right now, the Wolverines are behind the 8-ball with the top two prospects in the state. Last year, the top prospect, offensive lineman Logan Brown went to Wisconsin, while the No. 2 and No. 3 prospects in the state went to Michigan State.

The Wolverines got just one top-five prospect in the state in Mazi Smith. Karsen Barnhart, an offensive lineman, was the only other top-10 in-state kid to sign with Michigan. Yet, UM is in good shape to do much better this cycle and here are five key in-state guys it needs to get.
