The Wolverines control their own destiny

Not only did beating Maryland add another really good win to the Wolverines already impressive resume, but it keeps Michigan is the driver’s seat for the Big Ten title. Yet, the final five games will be tough and that stretch includes three road games including a trip to Maryland March 3.

No matter what happens this weekend, Michigan will head to Minnesota tied for first in the league but playing at the Barn is never easy. The Gophers also could really use a good win to get into the NCAA tournament, so the Wolverines have to be on their toes.

Michigan is going to have to win one or two of its three road games to win the Big Ten and the game at Minnesota is probably the easiest. That is Thursday. Michigan State then comes to Crisler next Sunday in another must-win game.

Michigan can’t get swept by the Spartans and you would think the game at home would be easier to win. Obviously, it would also be much nicer heading to East Lansing with a win over the Spartans already. The Wolverines would also love to have clinched a share of the conference title by then too, which it could with four straight wins and one loss by Purdue.
