Michigan Football: 5 reasons to buy Wolverines as top-5 team in 2019
Key games come at home in 2019
Obviously, there could be a whole new dynamic in the Michigan-Ohio State rivalry with Urban Meyer’s retirement as head coach and we will find out in November when the Buckeyes pay a visit to Michigan football.
It will be the first meeting between Harbaugh and Ryan Day and it will easily be the biggest game of Harbaugh’s tenure. Meyer owned him and Michigan, going 4-0 against Harbaugh, as well as 7-0 total against the Wolverines. He continued the dominance of Jim Tressel and now it’s up to Harbaugh to take control.
Winning the game in 2019 would be a huge step forward and the fact that it is at home should help. The Wolverines nearly beat Ohio State with John O’Korn at the Big House in 2017, so hopefully, with Patterson at quarterback, they can beat the Buckeyes in 2019.
The other loss in the regular season came at Notre Dame. The Irish are the only team on Michigan’s schedule that is ranked in the top 10 of the FPI along with Michigan and that game also comes at home, as does Michigan State.
The Wolverines do have to travel to Wisconsin and Penn State, while also hosting Iowa, however, when your three biggest games are on your home field, you really can’t complain.
