Michigan will be aided by an impact freshman class

Michigan football didn’t finish the 2018 season on a strong note, but it certainly didn’t do much to slow down the Wolverines momentum on the recruiting trail as they finished with the top-ranked class in the Big Ten and the eighth overall class in the country according to 247sports.

There are a lot of things of like about the 2019 recruiting class. Daxton Hill and according to some services Chris Hinton are both five-stars and should have a chance to make an immediate impact.

Mazi Smith is another name to watch up front, as a highly-rated four-star defensive tackle and running back Zach Charbonnet, who is just shy of being a five-star, could be the starting running back next fall. At the very least, he should be in the mix and some are saying he is the best running back recruit Harbaugh has landed at Michigan football.

Hill is the guy to be most excited about and it’s not because he is the top safety in the nation, as well as the 14th-ranked player overall. What’s exciting about his game is that he’s 6-foot and runs 4.3. He can play corner and safety — he can hit and he can cover and gives Michigan the elite athlete in the backend it has missed since Jabrill Peppers.

The Wolverines are also bringing in some dynamic receivers like Giles Jackson and Cornelius Johnson, who should fit perfectly in the new offensive system and also got some really good pieces up front along the offensive line.
