Jim Harbaugh is adapting

While it’s easy to throw criticism as Harbaugh, so far this offseason, he has taken steps to fix the problems that have caused the Wolverines to fall short in big games against teams like Ohio State.

The first thing that needed to change was the offense and Harbaugh went out and got Alabama’s former co-offensive coordinator Josh Gattis. Gattis looked to be going to Maryland and Harbaugh sprung into action and quickly recruited him.

The head coach also added some fresh faces on defense too, even though that was mandated more by the departures of Greg Mattison and Al Washington, however, the Wolverines landed Anthony Campanile, a co-defensive coordinator with Boston College last season, who also has a good reputation of working with defensive backs.

New ideas are needed on offense and after Michigan football and Pep Hamilton parted ways, that change is coming. Hopefully, the defense will make some adjustments too after terrible showings against the Buckeyes and Gators but at the very least, Harbaugh seemed to recognize some of the major issues plaguing his team and acted to fix them. We will see if those moves work but at least with the Gattis hire, it looks like Harbaugh hit a home run.
