Michigan must adapt without Devin Bush

Over the past two seasons, no Michigan football defender has made more of an impact that Devin Bush, who ended up winning the Big Ten defensive player of the year award in 2018 and deservedly so.

When April rolls around, Bush, along with Gary and maybe even Winrich will hear their name called early in the NFL draft and in Bush, some NFL team is going to be a huge impact player.

But at the same time, how is Michigan football going to replace his production and his playmaking ability? The answer is that it won’t. It just has to compensate and allow other impact players to develop, guys like Daxton Hill at corner/safety.

With Josh Ross, Devin Gil and Khaleke Hudson, as well as a number of other promising recruits Michigan should be solid at linebacker next season, but unless someone takes a really big leap, it’s going to be hard to replicate what Bush brought to the defense and that’s why it will be up to Brown to find new ways to put guys in position to make plays as he did with Bush.
