Michigan Basketball vs Rutgers: How to watch, predictions and more
Keys to victory
The keys for Michigan basketball to win this game are the same as usual for the most part. The Wolverines need to keep the Scarlet Knights off the board. If there is one thing Rutgers does well, its hit the offensive glass (30th in the nation).
Other than that, Rutgers is one of the worst offensive teams in all of college basketball as they average just 66.9 per game (313th in NCAA). That should cause Michigan to lick its chops on defense and since the Wolverines allow teams to score just 57 points per game (2nd NCAA), Rutgers should have a tough time putting the ball in the basket.
On the same token, Michigan has struggled to do the same thing, especially from beyond the arc. The Wolverines have failed to reach 60 points in consecutive road games and have shot just 27.9 percent from 3-point range over their last five outings.
That will need to change tonight against a Rutgers team that is allowing teams to shoot 37 percent in Big Ten play, which is 13th out of 14 teams. Charles Matthews, who is averaging 7.5 points over his last five games also needs to get things going.
