Michigan Basketball: 3 observations from road win over Indiana
Good to see Iggy scoring like his old self
In the past few games leading up to Indiana, Iggy hadn’t quite been himself offensively. He scored 18 points against Minnesota, but this shooting percentage was awful and he did most of his damage at the free throw line.
Friday night at Indiana, Iggy was — well he was Iggy again. On his first shot of the game, Brazdeikis rose up and buried a 3-pointer. It was a big make, not only because it gave the Wolverines an early lead and silenced the crowd, but it also had to give him confidence.
Iggy would make two more 3-pointers before the night was over, including one in the second half when the Hoosiers were trying to make a run and get back into the game. His 8-of-12 effort was the kind of thing we saw early in the season and in truth, he had it all going.
Brazdeikis was knocking down triples, getting to the bucket and even connecting in the mid-range. The great thing about Michigan is that it doesn’t need Iggy to be the guy every night, Matthews and Poole are also capable of carrying that load, even Zavier Simpson and Jon Teske at times, but when Iggy plays the way he did last night, the Wolverines are just plain hard to beat.
