Michigan Basketball: 3 observations from road win over Indiana
Michigan basketball dominated Indiana on the road Friday night, notching its biggest win at Assembly Hall. Here are three observations.
It was hard to know what to expect from Michigan basketball Friday night at Assembly Hall against the Indiana Hoosiers.
After all, it wasn’t that long ago that Indiana was the trendy team in the Big Ten with the talented Romeo Langford. Yet, that was before Michigan basketball beat them soundly in Ann Arbor. Since then, the wheels have fallen off.
Indiana came in the losers of five straight Friday night and even though the Hoosiers have been playing bad basketball, Michigan wasn’t exactly sharp in its last two outings. The Wolverines lost a tough road game against a solid Wisconsin team but then needed a buzzer beater to beat Minnesota after going up by 13 in the second half.
The biggest concern was the offense. Ignas Brazdeikis, Charles Matthews and Jordan Poole were all in a slump and while Matthews and Poole didn’t light it up, Iggy did. He scored 20 points and made 8-of-12 shots including three 3-pointers.
Iggy canned his first shot attempt and from there, Michigan suffocated Indiana. The Wolverines went up 17-0 and never looked back. The Hoosiers got it within 10 at one point in the second half, but Michigan went on to win by 23, 69-46.
They held the Hoosiers to 28 percent from the field (16-of-58) and so it’s safe to say the defense is on point again and while it wasn’t great, the offense showed some promise. At any rate, a win, on the road in the Big Ten is a good thing and here are three observations.
