Michigan football has turned its attention to the 2020 recruiting class and over the past few days, the Wolverines have been getting some positive news.

For the most part, Michigan football seems to have wrapped up work on the 2019 recruiting class and the focus recently has been on 2020 and beyond and in the past few days, UM has made headway with multiple recruits.

Obviously, it’s still very early in the process but Michigan football has five commits for the 2020 class and the Wolverines would surely like to start adding more. One name that Michigan would like to add to the list is that of three-star offensive tackle John Young.

Young seemed to enjoy his trip to Ann Arbor over the weekend, however, the Wolverines are going to have a lot of competition for the services of the 6-foot-6 tackle. Kentucky is the favorite right now according to 247 sports and Ohio State has also come in with an offer.

The Michigan Insider also caught up with Young and asked him about his visit and it sounded like he had good interactions with both Jim Harbaugh and Ed Warriner. Here’s what he said ($):

"I got to spend a lot more time with the coaches and see all of the facilities. Spent most of my day with Coach Warinner and Coach Harbaugh. They were telling me that I was a top priority for them and showing me what it was like to play offensive line for Michigan.”"

In another positive sign, A.J. Henning, the No. 51 player in the 247 composite rankings and the top player from Illinois, also included Michigan football in his top 10, which he announced on Twitter. Notre Dame is the favorite with Ohio State right behind, yet, with the addition of Josh Gattis as offensive coordinator, who knows, the Wolverines could sneak into the mix.

In other news, Jacolbe Cowan, a four-star defensive end from North Carolina, who visited the Wolverines last spring, also expressed interest in another visit to Ann Arbor. At least that’s what he told Sam Webb of the Michigan Insider.

Cowan has no crystal ball predictions right now, but Michigan football will get competition from schools like Georgia, Clemson and maybe even Alabama. The Crismon Tide were in on him before and consequently, Gattis was one of the lead recruiters, which could give the Wolverines an edge.

Cowan is a top 100 player in 2020 and so is running back Jalen Berger, who had good things to say about the Wolverines hiring of Josh Gattis and Anthony Campanile. Michigan has made an offer and Chris Partridge has been part of this, but Berger likes the new hires and that could maybe move some of the predictions off of Ohio State, which hold all of his crystal balls right now.

Of course, recruiting news will come in on the daily, but as of right now, a lot of things seem to be heading in a positive direction for the Wolverines.
