Can Peoples-Jones, Collins, and Black realize their potential?

One of the most frustrating aspects of the Wolverines struggles against elite programs is that from a talent perspective, especially at skill positions like wide receiver, Michigan football is loaded with dynamic players.

No team in the Big Ten has three receivers better than Peoples-Jones, Black and Collins. They are all over 6-foot and each is a proven deep threat. Yet, for some mysterious reason, Harbaugh refused to let them be the focal point of the offense, not even when Higdon sat for the bowl game.

In 2019, that has got to change and you would like to think it’s one of the reasons Harbaugh hired Gattis. Alabama had five receivers with at least 42 catches and at least 693 yards last season. That means five Crimson Tide receivers had more yards than Peoples-Jones and Collins.

When Black is healthy, accounting for all three can be incredibly difficult for opposing defenses, except when the Wolverines get conservative and turn into their own worst enemy. With three NFL-caliber receivers, an NFL-caliber quarterback and an offensive line that returns four starters, Michigan has the personnel to have a dominant passing attack.

But will Harbaugh allow Gattis to unleash the offense? That remains to be seen.
