Michigan Football: 5 things we learned from Wolverines 2018 season
Michigan football is an elite team in the Big Ten again
Some might scoff at this and say that Michigan was already back to being an elite team in the Big Ten, however, after Harbaugh’s first three seasons, he was 1-2 against Michigan State, 2-1 against Penn State and 1-1 vs Wisconsin.
Those are the three teams outside of Ohio State that have had sustained success in the league over the past few years, although you can mention Iowa and Northwestern in that too. But against those teams, Harbaugh was 4-4 going into this season, which shows what an achievement it was for the Wolverines to go 3-0 against those same teams in 2018, especially with the way Michigan bullied them.
When Harbaugh took over, he inherited a program that had struggled to compete with those same teams and after beating all three teams in dominant fashion, the Wolverines have established themselves as one of the two elite programs in the Big Ten.
Obviously, Michigan still has to catch up to Ohio State and right now, that’s the top priority, but at the very least, Harbaugh has caught and passed every team in the Big Ten. Oh, and by the way, UM also took back the state of Michigan. (Sorry little brother).
