Find an offensive guru and give total control of the playcalling

When it comes to the offensive playcalling at Michigan, there is a lot of blame to go around. Pep Hamilton has been a disaster in his role as the passing game coordinator and that’s just one way the offense has been mismanaged.

It’s been hard to nail down exactly who calls what plays, but essentially, Hamilton calls pass plays, Ed Warinner calls the run and Harbaugh has final say. Call me crazy but that’s too many voices.

There should be one play-caller — one offensive coordinator and in all honesty, it should be someone that is currently not on the staff. As a head coach, Harbaugh can be great. He’s a great leader; a great motivator and he is pretty good at strategic thinking most of the time. How he handled the Daxton Hill situation by going on ESPN was a good example.

That’s why the struggles with the offense have been so baffling. How does Harbaugh not see the dysfunction or the need to innovate? Harbaugh is great at mentoring quarterbacks and he will always have a say on what happens on offense but he needs to find an offensive coordinator and hand over the keys to the offense.

Harbaugh and Hamilton have driven for too long and it’s time to ask for some help.
