Michigan wins in impressive fashion

We all know that there is a big difference between winning and playing well. Michigan basketball can beat Air Force by playing mediocre — that’s just a fact with the talent difference between the two teams. However, with just two non-conference games left, it would be nice to see the Wolverines get back to playing at a high level.

The South Carolina game was understandable and that’s a more solid team, however, nearly going down to Western Michigan was just a sign of not being ready to play. UM was sloppy and just didn’t look ready.

Sometimes, the ball just doesn’t go in the basket and for a while against Western Michigan, that was the case. But at the same time, I’ll be interested to see how the Wolverines start the game. Ideally, Matthews, Iggy and company can get to the hoop early and set up some open looks outside. Either way, a fast start would be promising after the last two outings.

And another thing is that playing such a close game meant that subs like Brandon Johns and David Dejulius — guys that need minutes to develop — didn’t get much run. Hopefully, that changes against Air Force.

I expect Michigan basketball to be focused and ready for this one, but even if the Wolverines aren’t at their best, they will still win going away. Final score: Michigan 83, Air Force 52.
